Shopping centres, airports, heritage sites, sporting venues are most suitable places for driverless transport. Autonomous vehicles will play significant role in the future development of transport systems within smart cities and towns.
Intelligent Autonomous Transport Vehicle is a platform that can be used both for advanced research in autonomous navigation and for ferrying people around campus. It has state of the art navigation algorithms, industrial sensor interfaces and rugged design to survive outdoor environment. The sensor suit is pre-configured and connected to on-board computer to provide ease of development
For autonomous navigation it uses Laser range finders, GPS and Inertial Navigation sensors. On-board computer estimates vehicle’s position with the help of these sensors. Any undesired deviation from the path is corrected in real time with steer by wire control system.
The vehicle can be switched between auto and manual mode by pressing a button on the control panel.
