The MMA8451Q is a smart low-power, three-axis, capacitive micro machined accelerometer with 14 bits of resolution and ±2g, ±4g, ±8g of user selectable full scale ranges. MMA8451 accelerometer module has onboard 3.3V low drop voltage regulator and it can be powered by 3.6V to 6V DC supply. Board has two mounting holes. All 9 pins of the module are arranged in single line. The I2C interface is capable of operating at 2.25 MHz with appropriate pull ups. The Embedded interrupt functions allow for overall power savings relieving the host processor from continuously polling data. The device can be configured to generate inertial wakeup interrupt signals from any combination of the configurable embedded functions allowing the MMA8451Q to monitor events and remain in a low power mode during periods of inactivity which makes it best suitable for battery powered applications.

I2C interface between MMA8451Q and 3.3V microcontroller


1. 3V3OUT is capable of delivering 3.3V@ 40mAmps. It can be used to set up pull ups for I/O pins related to MMA8451. It should not be used for other purposes.
2. SA0 pin on the module should be connected to either logic 0 or 1 to define the LSB of 7 bit I2C address. In the demo application this pin is connected to logic 0 or GND.
